Speak the Word, Hummers and Stealers Win in Bob Owens Action

Jan. 13, 2009 -- Speak the Word and the National Guard Hummers outslugged their opponents Monday at the D.C. Canegata Ballpark, while the Seaborne Stealers crushed the Salty Sailors in the late game.

Speak the Word 22, Anchor Dive 18

In Monday's first game, Speak the Word Ministries outslugged Anchor Dive 22-18. Speak the Word scored 22 runs on 28 hits with three errors, while Anchor Dive scored 18 runs on 23 hits with four errors. The winning pitcher was Lt. Gov. Gregory Francis, with Edwin Sankitts picking up the loss for Anchor Dive. Top batters for Speak the Word were Dexter Skepple, 3 for 4 with three home runs and eight RBIs, and Norbert Pickering, 2 for 3 with two home runs and five RBIs. For Anchor Dive, Danny Rosa went 5 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs and Danny Rodriguez went 2 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs.
